Tension continues to rise in Garowe over an order by Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni for the disarming of a former head of the regional police force.
Recently, President Deni ordered local police to disarm Abdi Yare, a former leader of the Puntland Police Force.
According to sources, Yare has remained defiant over President Deni’s orders.
He has refused to hand over all the weapons and vehicles in his care.
Serving police officers are unsure whether to proceed with President Deni’s orders or wait for Yare to surrender.
