Kiki Gbeho attended the inauguration of the parliamentary Women’s Caucus held in Mogadishu on Monday.
Gbeho, the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG), commended the female legislators for launching the caucus.
“Women’s caucuses are a positive force all over the world,” she said in her address.
She added that such caucuses are effective at advancing progress in the gender dialogue thus enhancing the passage of gender-sensitive laws in parliament.
The caucus is for women legislators from the House of the People (Lower House).
