The Deputy Governor of Gedo has said that the ongoing floods in the region have caused an “extremely severe” situation.
Deputy Governor Mohamed Hussein Al-Qaadi said this during his visit to the affected areas in the region on Sunday.
Al-Qaadi confirmed that the worst affected parts of Gedo include Bardhere, Luuq, Elwak, and Dolow.
El Nino rains have been bombarding most of Somalia for the last few days thus creating flash floods that leave residents devastated.
Thus far, Deputy Governor Al-Qaadi mentioned 10,000 as the number of people affected by the flash floods in Gedo.
He added that four people had already lost their lives to the floods while many fled their homes to seek refuge in higher places.
