The Federal Government of Somalia has entered an agreement with HECO that would lead to a reduction on the cost of electricity for the residents of Burao Town.
According to reports, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources solved the long-standing differences between HECO Electricity Co. and local residents over the issue of high bills.
Mohamed Yusuf, the Director General in the energy and minerals ministry, confirmed this news through a press statement released on Monday.
In the statement, Yusuf said HECO has promised to implement a 20 percent cut on the amount charged per watt from $0.79 to $0.63.
The price cut is great news for the residents and businesses of Burao Town, who have often complained of the high energy bills.
