The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has dispatched the Minister of Interior to HirShabelle for a discussion with regional leaders on peace and reconciliation.
Mukhtar Hussein Afrah, the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, is in the region to lead peace talks.
The region has been rocked by protests and violence since Ali Guudlaawe was elected the new President of HirShabelle last month.
Afrah’s arrival in HirShabelle occurred after the government deployed its forces to the region to quell the protests.
General Abukar Hud has been leading the armed resistance and protests against Guudlaawe’s election.
