Suleiman Yusuf Ali, the Minister of Information popularly known as Koore, has announced the renationalization of Hargeisa Club Hotel by the government of Somaliland.
Koore said that the constitution allows the government to repossess property it once owned and restore it to the public.
Consequently, he announced that Hargeisa Club Hotel would henceforth be used as COVID-19 isolation facility.
Where possible, the newly renationalized property would also be used as a facility for treating patients diagnosed with COVID-19.
The hotel was once one of Somaliland’s most famous establishments.
However, former President Silanyo’s administration leased it to Sultan Saed for 30 years. Sultan Saed is one of the country’s traditional clan leaders.
