Abdi Hashi, the Speaker of the Senate (Upper House), has accused President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of denying his request to attend the ongoing elections talks in Dhusamareb.
On February 1, Speaker Hashi wrote a letter to Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor, the President of Galmudug State where the elections talks are taking place.
In his letter, Speaker Hashi informed Qoorqoor that he would like to attend the talks from February 2.
However, Speaker Hashi never heard back from Qoorqoor.
On Wednesday, Speaker Hashi addressed the media in Mogadishu where he said that President Farmaajo had rejected his request to be invited to the National Consultation Conference.
Hashi is one of the most influential and senior politicians from Somaliland in Mogadishu.
He has also been one of President Farmaajo’s biggest critics, especially where preparations for the upcoming elections are concerned.
While condemning Farmaajo this week, Speaker Hashi also accused him of being “anti-federalism.”
