Lizzie Walker, the Head of the British Office in Somaliland, spoke out against the violence witnessed during the protests.
Police officers reportedly hit out at the protestors, who are mostly opposition supporters.
Opposition supporters have taken to the streets to protest plans by the government to postpone presidential elections that are scheduled for October-November 2022.
Walker urged all concerned parties to “exercise restraint.”
She encouraged all sides to take the measures necessary for de-escalating the situation and preventing harm and injury.
Further, the British Officer asked all parties to engage in “meaningful and regular dialogue” to reach a consensus.
