The headquarters of one of the special units within the Somali Police Force (SPF) is to be named after the slain Mogadishu police commander.
Major General Abdi Hassan Mohamed Hijar, SPF Chief, announced this on October 1.
According to the announcement, the headquarters of Haramcad, a special police unit, would be named after Brigadier General Farhan Mohamoud Aden Qarole.
Brig. Gen. Qarole was murdered in an explosive attack carried out by Al-Shabaab in Mogadishu.
A day later, he was laid to rest.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud led the nation in mourning him and attended the funeral prayers held in honor of the slain police commander.
Maj. Gen. Hijar said that naming the Haramcad headquarters after Brig. Gen. Qarole is the police’s way of honoring and remembering his legacy.
