The Ministry of Health has recommended the cancellation of all public gatherings in Somalia to curb the spread of COVID-19.
On September 20, the health ministry issued a new set of COVID-19 guidelines.
In the guidelines, the ministry recommends cancellation of large gatherings in sporting events, weddings, and protests.
The ministry said that the move was necessary because of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic that’s currently being experienced in the country.
Further, it advised the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to reduce the number of personnel working from the offices. Instead, it recommends allowing most of the government’s staff to work from home.
Additionally, a nighttime curfew will also be enforced.
