A heavy gunfight has been reported in Hiiran between government troops and Al-Shabaab terrorists.
The fighting has been reported in Qabno.
Sources indicate that the government deployed its troops to Qabno, which is in the outskirts of Mataban district, to flush out Al-Shabaab militants.
According to witnesses, the clashes left plenty of casualties on both sides.
The clashes occurred after a landmine hit a convoy of vehicles transporting Governor Ali Jeyte of the Hiiran region on June 27.
The Monday morning landmine attack left three people dead.
Three others, including two journalists working for the HirShabelle state media, were rushed to the hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.
