A delegation of high-level officials from the Indian government is in Somalia for talks with the federal Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation.
Interior Minister Ahmed Fiqi held talks with the Indian delegation led by Dr. Sumar Kumara.
The meeting, which was on Tuesday, saw both sides discuss several issues that touch on their respective nations.
They spoke about increased cooperation between Somalia and India.
Ahmed Ali Dahir, the Somalia Ambassador to India, was present in the discussions too.
Fiqi urged the Indian officials to convince their government to open a consulate in Mogadishu to ease the visa application process for Somalis who need to travel to India for medical or education purposes.
