On Monday, during a meeting of Himilo National Party’s executive committee, the party leadership announced the decision to remove its secretary general – MP Abdihakim Moalim Ahmed – from office.
Earlier, the Member of Parliament said that Dhusamareb never had any Ethiopian troops outside AMISOM. That contradicted the statement by his party, which condemned the presence of Ethiopian troops.
On his part, the suspended MP said, “I welcome and accept the decision by my party. It’s clear that we could not agree on a matter of great importance to the nation.”
“The party members hold different views. Some politicians are responsible for the violence affecting the area I represent. They have some interest in the kind of political thinking that is not beneficial to the locals and the entire region”, he said.
Moalim continued, “It’s now clear that the federal government of Somalia understands why Galmudug State had to be established. The newly created state represents the people and region. That explains why some members find my views unwelcome.”
On the matter of the Ethiopian troops, Moalim says, “We only have AMISOM and not Ethiopian troops. However, I would like to clarify that I don’t and will never assent to the government’s decision to bring more troops. I’m also against any decision to interfere with the electoral process in the state. On top of that, I oppose the amplification and misrepresentation of truth in the reconciliation and electoral mechanisms in Galmudug.”
