The regional state of HirShabelle carried out its elections for the senatorial seats on Wednesday, September 15.
During the polls, four new Senators were elected to join the federal Upper House.
The newly elected senators are Dr. Osman Dufle and Nur M. Geddi. Others include Muse Sudi and Fartun Abdulkadir.
Elections for the remaining four regional Upper House seats are scheduled for Thursday, September 16.
With the HirShabelle elections kicking off, 35 out of the 54 seats in the Upper House have now been filled after all the five regional states conducted their respective senatorial polls.
