HirShabelle’s presidential elections are scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, November 11, the regional electoral commission has announced.
HirShabelle Presidential Election Commission made the announcement on Saturday, November 7 via an official communiqué.
Before then, the election commission would be registering candidates for the Presidency and Vice Presidency seats on November 8-9.
Thereafter, the candidates would get an opportunity to address voters through official speeches on November 10.
On November 4, the regional assembly elected its Speaker and two Deputy Speakers.
Earlier this week, President Mohamed Abdi Waare also resigned from his seat thus clearing the path for the election of a new president.
