HirShabelle received emergency aid from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) on August 10.
FGS’ Ministry of Health donated the aid to HirShabelle.
The donation included emergency medical supplies and drugs. Health ministry officials donated the equipment at Jowhar.
HirShabelle State’s Minister of Health and the Director General in the same ministry received the donation on behalf of the regional administration.
Reports indicate that the emergency donation would go a long way towards addressing the medical needs of people affected by the floods that have rocked the region for long.
Residents of HirShabelle State are in need of humanitarian and medical assistance following recurrent flooding of the Shabelle River.
FGS announced that the donation would also help the regional administration to contain COVID-19.
