President Mohamed Abdi Ware of Somalia’s semiautonomous region of HirShabelle has welcomed the statement by the US Embassy in Mogadishu on the country’s upcoming polls.
US Embassy in Mogadishu expressed delight at the decision by leaders to build consensus and form a technical committee to discuss election modalities.
The consensus was agreed upon during the meeting between Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States in Galmudug’s administrative capital of Dhusamareb.
FGS and FMS leaders met in Dhusamareb for the last two weeks to discuss the upcoming elections and the model to use.
President Ware tweeted his appreciation of the crucial role the international community continues to play in developing the Horn of Africa nation.
He urged his fellow citizens not to “lose the gains” made in the areas such as democratization process and security.
Furthermore, Ware urged his compatriots not to let the blood their colleagues shed and the treasure invested in the country to go in vain.
