Sweden has faulted the decision by Somalia’s House of Representatives to remove Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire from office.
On Saturday, 170 lawmakers allied to President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo voted to kick Khaire out of office.
Sweden has now added its voice to the growing condemnation of Khaire’s ouster.
It said the recent developments in Mogadishu had raised “serious concerns” over the country’s democracy, which many international partners have been funding for years.
Ann Linde, Sweden’s Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Somalia has to demonstrate commitment to embracing consensus and dialogue.
She called on the country’s leadership to implement the agreement recently signed in Dhusamareb between leaders of the Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States.
Linde, who has played a crucial role in encouraging peace and stability in the Horn of Africa nation, posted her concerns on Twitter.
