The Human Rights Center (HRC) has condemned the continued harassment and persecution of journalists in Somaliland.
HRC issued a statement on March 20 speaking about the issues facing journalists in the breakaway nation of Somaliland.
In the statement, HRC said that recurring arrests and abuse against journalists are designed to disrupt the political and democratic process in Somaliland.
Further, HRC mentioned that authorities in Somaliland have continuously used underhand methods to detain journalists and all critics.
The organization cited the recent physical assault visited upon two journalists by officers from the Somaliland Intelligence Agency.
Abdisalan Mohamed Jama and Ali-Mahdi Jibreel Hassan Sheikh were the journalists in question.
