Mayor Farah Ali Ibrahim of Hudun has urged local residents to stop the over-politicization of grazing lands in the region.
He reminded the residents that they are all from the same clan; hence, the more reason for co-existing peacefully.
The Mayor reminded district officers to cease playing a role in politicizing the grazing lands too.
Mayor Farah advised locals to normalize sharing pasture and the available water as a solution for stopping the constant fights over the few resources in the region.
Farah was speaking during an interview conducted over the phone with Dawan.
He advised local councils, which are in control of water and pasture in the region, to coordinate this for the benefit of all residents.
“Unresolved political disputes over pastureland have disrupted livelihoods while exacerbating poverty in the region,” Mayor Farah stated.
Hudun’s Mayor reminded warring parties and anyone intent on causing mayhem that the region is full of officers from the national army, regional forces, and district administration.
