The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is set to proceed with the maritime case between Kenya and Somalia.
The case kicks off on March 15 when lawyers representing both sides make their oral presentations.
However, Kenya has indicated its intentions to withdraw from the case.
Nevertheless, this will not prevent ICJ from proceeding with the case even in Kenya’s absence.
Moreover, ICJ already received written arguments from Kenya.
Consequently, nothing hinders it from listening to the matter.
Kenya would not be in a position to appeal the ruling made by ICJ.
However, Kenya is a member (non-permanent) of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), which is tasked with implementing the court’s ruling.
