An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in Lower Shabelle on Monday, November 23 and killed Danab Special Forces soldiers.
Reports from the region indicate that the explosion targeted a convoy of vehicles that belong to Danab Special Forces in Leego.
Military sources confirmed that six soldiers were killed in the incident.
It is not yet clear whether the military responded to the attack by retaliating with an attack of their own.
At the time of the incident, the soldiers were from Balligodle Airfield, where they receive training from the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) forces.
Several other Danab forces were injured in the explosion.
The injured soldiers are currently at a military hospital where they are receiving medical treatment.
