A minimum of 10 soldiers died when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in Lower Shabelle on Monday.
Witnesses reported that a bomb planted by the side of a road in the town of Bula Gaduud exploded and killed ten soldiers while injuring several others.
According to residents who witnessed the incident, the landmine exploded when a military vehicle carrying an unconfirmed number of soldiers passed on the road.
Immediately thereafter, Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack saying its militants planted the IED purposely to target the soldiers.
