The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has announced its readiness to collaborate with Somalis in the diaspora to develop their country.
Fathia Alwan, the Director of IGAD’s Health and Social Development department, said this while addressing the 10th International Conference of the Somali Diaspora.
The Somali diaspora plays a crucial role in Somalia’s development, contributing not only financially but also through skills, knowledge transfer, and investments in various sectors.
IGAD’s commitment to collaborating with the diaspora demonstrates a recognition of this potential.
By working together, they can enhance initiatives related to health, social development, and other sectors critical for Somalia’s progress.
The engagement at the 10th annual international conference organized by Global Somali Diaspora in Istanbul is an important platform for fostering these partnerships, with IGAD offering valuable support in policy and coordination.
