The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism encouraged Somali journalists to be the voice of the voiceless.
Daud Aweis, the information minister, said this on Wednesday.
He was speaking while leading the country in observing the World Press Freedom Day.
The day is celebrated globally on May 3.
Aweis encouraged them to step up their role as conduits of information regarding development and public awareness.
“I urge our journalists to speak for those without a voice while supporting peace and state building efforts,” Aweis said.
He called on them to embrace transparency too.
