Eli Cohen, Israel’s Minister of Intelligence, has said that the country is on the verge of signing a peace deal with Somaliland.
Cohen broke this news during an interview with Army Radio.
Although he never mentioned Somaliland directly by name, the interviewer did that when asking him if the countries he spoke of were Somaliland and Sudan.
On Thursday August 20, the Jerusalem Post ran a story reporting that Israel was contemplating signing a peace deal with either Somaliland or Sudan.
Army Radio picked up that story and sought direct answers from Cohen.
On Sunday, the Israeli intelligence minister had announced plans to sign a normalization agreement between Israel and Sudan.
