The international community has expressed its concern over the delayed parliamentary elections in Somalia.
On November 6, the partners issued a statement on the issue.
In their statement, they urged national leaders and the regional state administrators to deliver credible House of the People (Lower House) polls before end of 2021.
Furthermore, representatives of the international partners encouraged Somali leaders to implement and respect the 30% minimum quota for women representation.
Their statement mentioned the recent settling of differences between President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
They encouraged Farmaajo and Roble to implement the terms they agreed upon speedily and refocus on completing the electoral process.
In their view, Somalia needs the full and speedy implementation of the September 17, 2020 and May 27, 2021 electoral and political agreements.
