The international community commended Puntland for holding peaceful presidential elections earlier this month.
Somalia’s international partners issued an official statement commending the regional state for conducting the polls peacefully.
Incumbent President Said Abdullahi Deni won his second term in office during the elections held on January 8, 2024.
The international partners, who included the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and the European Union (EU), hailed the role of all political stakeholders in Puntland too.
They encouraged all parties in the just-concluded elections to embrace peaceful and legal mechanisms for resolving their differences.
