International Community to Consult FGS and FMS over Failed Electoral Talks

The international community has expressed great dismay over claims that Somalia’s electoral talks have collapsed.

On April 8, its representatives announced that they would meet the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).

The international partners stated that they would consult FGS and FMS representatives to identify reasons for the talks collapse.

They also indicated their awareness of the “gravity” of the current situation.

Additionally, the international partners said that they would meet with all Somali stakeholders to discover solutions for the current impasse.

In their view, Somalia needs a “rapid return to dialogue” to prevent the instability that could occur because of inability to hold elections.
