International Community Urges Somali Leaders to Resume Elections Talks

International community has urged political leaders in Somalia to resume elections talks immediately.

On February 8, Somalia’s international partners released a press statement urging the country’s leadership to resolve their electoral differences.

In the statement, the partners commended Somali leaders for making efforts to resolve the electoral impasse.

Specifically, they expressed their delight at the recent National Consultative Conference, which was held in Galmudug to discuss elections.

Their statement mentioned the fact that the conference tackled several issues, which it also made huge steps toward solving.

The international partners stated their belief that “it is still possible for the political leaders and other stakeholders to reach an agreement.”

They called for a resumption of the talks to solve the electoral crisis as soon as possible to ensure that Somalia holds the eagerly awaited parliamentary and presidential polls.
