International Partners Concerned over Somalia’s Elections Impasse

Somalia’s international partners have expressed concern at the seeming inability to resolve the country’s elections impasse.

Their views came to the fore during the recent Somali Partnership Forum (SPF).

Somalia held the forum on December 7.

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble chaired the forum that attracted participants from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).

Several representatives of Somalia’s international partners also addressed the gathering.

The partners agreed that the East African country has not made much progress in solving the impasse to hold timely elections.

They urged Somali leaders to respect the agreement signed on September 17, 2020 between FGS and FMS.

Furthermore, they encouraged leaders to adhere to the electoral protocols agreed on October 1, 2020 too.
