Donkeys caused a Kenyan plane to crash in the Somalia town of Beledweyne a week ago, Somali Civil Aviation Authority has discovered after a week of investigations.
According to investigations, donkeys grazing close to the runway felt frightened by the sound of the approaching plane that was about to land.
The donkeys then fled towards the path the plane was on.
In doing so, the pilot swerved the plane away from the runway to avoid hitting the donkeys and crashed into heaps of sand along the strip.
Plane crash investigators have been in Somalia for the last week trying to discover the circumstances that led to the accident.
Captain Farah Ahmed was piloting the plane when it crashed. Fortunately, neither he nor his First Officer Shukri Farah was hurt in the accident.
An unidentified Kenyan passenger traveling in the plane was also not hurt. None of the three, who were airlifted to Nairobi afterward, suffered any injury.
