The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has ranked Somalia at the top of its Emergency Watchlist for 2023.
IRC published its latest Emergency Watchlist, which seeks to draw global attention to 20 countries that are at risk of experiencing a worsening humanitarian crisis.
It published the 2022 list on December 15.
In the list, Somalia is ranked at the top together with Ethiopia and Afghanistan among others.
Somalia’s inclusion in that list is not surprising considering that the East African nation has been facing drought and a worsening humanitarian crisis for several years now.
The fact that Somalia continues to grapple with armed conflict has also worsened the situation.
