An affiliate of the Islamic State in Somalia has declared war against the Al-Shabaab militia group.
On December 17, a video was posted online showing ISIS fighters declaring war on Al-Shabaab, a group that declared allegiance to Al-Qaeda in 2010.
ISIS-Somalia, an affiliate of the ISIS group based in the Middle East, has been recruiting more fighters to its rank in recent times.
It has recruited a large chunk of its new members from foreign countries.
Furthermore, ISIS-Somalia has a significant presence in Somalia’s semiautonomous region of Puntland, which is located in the northern parts of the country.
In the new video, ISIS-Somalia condemned Al-Shabaab, Taliban, and Al-Qaeda.
Moreover, it announced plans to crush Al-Shabaab in a determined fight and clash for ultimate control of the region.
