Israel Asks Somalia to Host Palestinians Relocated from Gaza

Recent reports indicate that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence agency, to identify countries willing to accept large numbers of Palestinians displaced from the Gaza Strip.

Discussions have reportedly taken place with nations including Somalia and South Sudan, as well as Indonesia.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to relocate Palestinians amidst ongoing conflict in the region.

However, the Somali federal government has categorically denied any discussions with the United States or Israel regarding such resettlement plans.

Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, emphasized that Somalia would reject any proposal undermining the Palestinian people’s right to live peacefully on their ancestral land.

Similarly, officials from Somaliland have stated they are unaware of any contacts regarding resettlement.

These developments occur amidst broader international discussions about the future of displaced Palestinians from Gaza.

The U.S. and Israel have reportedly approached several East African countries, including Somalia, Sudan, and Somaliland, to discuss potential resettlement options.

However, these proposals have faced widespread rejection from the approached nations.
