Italian Ambassador Hails Measurable Impact of AU Troops in Somalia

Pier Mario Daccò Coppi, the Ambassador Italy to Somalia, has highlighted the significant impact of African Union (AU) troops in the country, describing their contributions as “measurable.”

He credited the AU forces with restoring large areas of Somalia to federal government control, underscoring their role in stabilizing the region.

During a media briefing in Mogadishu, the Italian diplomat also addressed the effectiveness of European Union (EU) support for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).

When questioned about whether the EU’s involvement has been successful, Amb. Coppi acknowledged the positive outcomes of their support, emphasizing the collaborative efforts that have contributed to progress in Somalia’s security and governance.

This statement reflects the ongoing international efforts to stabilize Somalia and the recognition of the AU and EU’s roles in achieving measurable improvements in the region.
