Italy Has Approved $6m for Flood Prevention, says HirShabelle President

President Mohamed Abdi Ware of HirShabelle State has announced that the government of Italy approved $6 million for flood prevention in Somalia.

Ware made this announcement on Twitter on Saturday.

President Ware also tweeted his meeting with Fabio Massimo, Italy’s Deputy Ambassador to Somalia in HirShabelle.

During the meeting, Ambassador Massimo delivered the good news of the approval for the funds that Somalia needs to help mitigate the effects of the ongoing floods around the country.

HirShabelle and other parts of the East African nation have suffered constant floods for the last two months.

Floods have destroyed homes, damaged farmlands, and rendered thousands of people homeless while turning them into Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in their own country.
