Jubbaland Forces Approaching Al-Shabaab Jilib Stronghold

Jilib, Jubbaland – The regional forces of Jubbaland have captured the strategic town of Jamame, potentially representing the largest offensive against Al-Shabaab militants in southern Somalia’s Lower Jubba region.

Reports state that frontline troops have seized critical positions paving the way to the Jilib corridor, a primary Al-Shabaab bastion. “They have secured it,” one source noted.

Details of the operation remained confidential from the public due to its delicacy, though these advances signal a major strategic change in southern Somalia.

Last week, forces freed Jamaame town, providing key impetus as soldiers press north toward Jilib. The area is seen as a chief Al-Shabaab hub, with leaders thought to direct from reinforced caves.

Al-Shabaab has restricted activities to select zones amid resource shortages and aggressive security efforts. The government has long prepared to strike the corridor.

Jubbaland’s regional administration is dispatching stabilization units to freshly recaptured zones along the Jamaame-Jilib corridor, military sources familiar with the effort report.

These teams are entering recovered territories to protect civilians, firm up control, and thwart militant comebacks. The push enhances Jubbaland authority in southern Somalia and sustains recent military progress.
