Details of Talks Between Jubbaland President and US Ambassador Revealed

Kismayo, Jubbaland – To promote stability and stronger security in Jubbaland, President Ahmed Islam Mohamed Madobe urged the United States to invest in Somalia’s regional states amid efforts to recover from decades of turmoil.

Jubbaland, a steadfast ally to Kenya and the US on peace and security issues, is actively combating Al-Shabaab militants currently retreating in Jilib in Middle Jubba. The US delegation, headed by its Ambassador to Somalia, Richard H. Riley, engaged in productive talks with President Madobe and his senior officials.

In the meeting, President Madobe outlined key priorities in security, governance, and economic growth, highlighting steady advances in extending administrative control and securing liberated territories.

He reaffirmed Jubbaland’s pivotal role in national counterterrorism efforts and stressed the importance of sustained collaboration with international partners, especially the US, to preserve battlefield successes.

The conversation also addressed development initiatives, with the President emphasizing the need to align foreign aid with Jubbaland’s strategies for improving services, infrastructure, and institutions. The delegation appreciated Jubbaland’s focus on accountability, coordination, and practical state-building.

On political issues, President Madobe renewed Jubbaland’s commitment to a just, inclusive, and stable federal system, pledging constructive engagement with national and regional actors to protect Somalia’s federal structure.
