Former HirShabelle President Ali Cosoble criticized the leaders of Puntland and Jubbaland, labeling them as “warlords” for their actions that appear contradictory to several decisions by the federal government.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Cosoble claims that President Ahmed Islam Madobe and President Said Abdullahi Deni of Jubbaland and Puntland respectively aim to gain leverage by obstructing Somalia’s national goals.
Cosoble argued that both regional leaders are resisting efforts to strengthen Somalia’s national army and are against holding one-person, one-vote elections, which he views as crucial steps for the country’s progress.
This statement by the former leader of HirShabelle State adds to the ongoing political tension within Somalia, as federal and regional leaders navigate complex relationships and differing visions for the nation’s future.
