Jubbaland and Puntland have announced plans to skip the forthcoming Somali Partnership Forum (SPF).
The forum was expected to kick off on Monday next week in Mogadishu.
However, unconfirmed reports indicate that the meeting would now have to take place virtually following the withdrawal of the two Federal Member States (FMS).
The two regional states said that they would not be attending the meeting because of the current political situation in the country.
In the last few weeks, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia has faced intense criticism from Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Islam Madobe.
The Jubbaland President has threatened not to hold elections in the region if Farmaajo’s government does not return Gedo to the regional administration.
