Jubbaland’s Minister of Health has urged the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to act fast on Favori.
Mursal M. Khaliif, the Minister of Health in the Jubbaland administration, made this request on Wednesday.
He was responding to a letter from Favori dated June 7, 2020 where the firm asked security staff to stand whenever senior management passed near them.
Khaliif called action by Favori “modern-day slavery.”
Favori, a Turkish firm won the tender to manage the largest airports in Somalia, as advertised by the government of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
Khaliif said that the company’s management mostly comprises white Turkish men.
Majority of Favori’s junior employees, especially those in the security docket, are black Somalis.
Consequently, the Jubbaland minister urged Farmaajo’s administration to institute “immediate remedial measures” against the foreign-owned firm.
