The regional state of Jubbaland has opened its doors to representatives of global media houses to the region to assess the impact of the drought.
Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed, Jubbaland’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, hosted journalists from various countries around the world.
His meeting with the journalists took place on March 9 in Kismayo.
The journalists are in Jubbaland to evaluate and report on the drought and its effects on the people, plants, and animals in the region.
Jubbaland – and Somalia in its entirety – is in dire need of emergency humanitarian assistance.
The United Nations has repeatedly called for urgent humanitarian assistance to cushion more than 4.5 million Somalis from the effects of the ongoing drought.
