Abdirashid Janan is on the verge of surrendering to the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), reports indicate.
This was revealed on March 23 after reports emerged that FGS sent armored vehicles to Dolow.
Apparently, this happened amid reports that Janan has been holding secret talks with the government of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
Janan has been one of the fiercest critics of Farmaajo’s rule.
His forces have been involved in bloody and deadly wars with troops loyal to Farmaajo’s administration several times in Gedo region.
Janan is likely to surrender to Farmaajo’s administration.
With his likely defection to Farmaajo’s side, Janan could find himself at loggerheads with Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Islam Madobe, who is also anti-Farmaajo.
