Kenya has promised to work closely with the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) to make Somalia a “peaceful and safe” country.
Aden Duale, the Kenyan Minister of Defense, said this during his meeting with Ambassador Mohammed El-Amine Souef.
Duale and Amb. Souef met in Nairobi.
Amb. Souef is the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) and the Head of ATMIS.
Currently, Amb. Souef is in Nairobi for a series of meetings and discussions.
On Tuesday, he visited Duale at the Defense Headquarters in the Kenyan capital.
During the meeting, Duale and Amb. Souef discussed increased cooperation and partnerships between ATMIS and the Kenyan Defense Forces (KDF).
Souef expressed gratitude to KDF for working hard to make Somalia peaceful as part of the ATMIS force.
