Kenya has said that leaders interested in short-term political gains are to blame for the political tribulations prevailing in Somalia. The “greediness” has led to the standoff between federal government and member states.
According to Kenya, an “immediate ceasefire” is necessary. Al-Shabaab has been a menace in the country. The militant group has hindered the formation of a functional state in the Horn of African nation.
Recently, Somalia has accused Kenya of “interfering in its domestic affairs.” Mogadishu threatened to report Kenya to the United Nations Security Council. Somalia’s President Farmaajo insists that Kenya has no business in Jubaland.
The “greedy politics of Somalia’s leaders have caused the current quagmire,” a statement from Kenya says. Kenya’s officials continue to say that they are concerned with the developments being witnessed in Somalia.
