Kenya Joins Other ATMIS Troops Contributing Nations in Supporting Call for Delayed Withdrawal

Kenya has joined other nations that contribute troops to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) in supporting the calls for delayed withdrawal of the forces.

Recently, Somalia wrote a formal letter requesting a “technical pause” in the withdrawal of ATMIS troops from the country.

Ethiopia, Djibouti, Uganda, and Burundi already approved the request for delayed withdrawal.

Kenya, who together with the other four nations contribute their troops to ATMIS, has now joined the fray by assenting to the request for a halt.

Somalia urged the AU to halt the withdrawal for 90 days.
