Neighboring Somali experienced intense clashes for the better part of Monday. However, since then, Mandera Town has enjoyed relative peace.
The unease calm in Mandera is possible because of the presence of Kenya Police to secure the town and ensure yesterday’s mayhem does not spill over into the country.
For the last one month, FGS troops camped at Bula Hawa, a town that is near Mandera. They planned to raid and capture fugitive Jubaland minister, Abdirashid Janan.
Since yesterday, Kenya Police Service assured residents of Mandera of their safety.
Security teams also remained on high alert to prevent militants in Gedo from crossing over into Kenya to export the violence that made the region a no-go zone on Monday.
