Kenyan Delegation in Talks with Prime Minister Abiy over the Gedo Tensions

President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya has sent a delegation comprising top government officials to Addis Ababa for a meeting with Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

The Kenya-Ethiopia meeting comes hot in the heels of the trip to Somalia where the Kenyan delegation met President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.

Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, leads the Kenyan delegation that traveled to Addis Ababa on Tuesday.

PM Abiy Ahmed has won accolades as an ambassador for peace around the world. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019.

During the Ethiopian tour, CS Matiang’i will lead other officials in a discussion with PM Ahmed’s government on many issues.

One issue likely to dominate the discussions touches on the need to identify collaborative approaches that promoting Kenya’s mutual relations with Somalia across the border.
