Labor Minister Holds Meetings with Somali’s Trade and Labor Unions

Duran Farah, Somalia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, held a meeting with representatives of trade and labor unions in the country.

The meeting with union representatives took place on November 15.

Farah said that the purpose of the meeting was to cultivate a “spirit of tripartism and social dialogue.”

Some of the representatives were from Federation of Somali Trade Unions (FESTU), Somali Chamber of Commerce, and the National Civil Servants Commission.

Farah urged the representatives to ensure that their unions develop excellent working relationships with each other.

He also encouraged them to continue upholding the principles of labor as eschewed by the International Labor Organization (ILO).
